In an exclusive interview to NDTV post Sachin retirement, ganguly has expressed that he,Rahul & VVS felt extremely proud that their name was made a special mention by Sachin in his farewell speech.

Here are the few excerpts from that interview:

On Sachin's farewell speech:
He mentioned my name along with Rahul Dravid and Laxman as well. It made us very, very proud because we played most of our cricket together and now it feels like it all meant something. We have spent more time together than with our immediate families. You don't just play cricket to have the numbers, the runs or the records. You also play for the moments. We played in a very happy time for Indian cricket. The journey has been really, really special. Sachin made everyone speechless with his speech. It was fantastic to see.

On Arjun tendulkar:
In 2008 we were playing against Australia. My room door was open and Arjun walked into my room with a bat. He asked me to teach him how to play the cover drive. I said, 'go and ask your father!' Arjun replied that my father is right-handed and you are left-handed so I need to know the cover drive from you. If Arjun achieves 50 per cent of what his father has achieved, he will be a very successful cricketer.

On Sachin,Dravid,VVS:
It was never tough captaining Rahul Dravid, VVS Laxman, Anil Kumble or Sachin because they are good people, they are honest. Not once did they ever feel that they wanted my place. I would rely on them when I had my problems. I was very fortunate after the Greg Chappel era to have Sachin. If he had not spoken the truth, I may never have played again.

On sachin's retirement:
It was a very emotional moment. I actually saw VVS Laxman cry, he had tears in his eyes. The ovation that Sachin got touched us all. For somebody so good, so brilliant and so big it was perfect. I have said it in the past that when Sachin Tendulkar goes, he should go with his bat held high. His farewell knock was his best innings in the past three years.

Do u agree that it was very nice of Sachin to make a special mention of sourav Rahul VVS & anil in his speech with whom he played the most of his career where they took team India to new heights? Would always miss those days, the days of golden era of Indian cricket where sourav Sachin Rahul batted together which is now over.

Comments?

BQ - in the interview you can see Arjun tendulkar approaching sourav to teach him how to play a cover drive because Arjun is a left-hander. Looking at all these do u see a big future for Arjun in Indian cricket ?

Surely it's the end of an era. I watched the whole interview of Saurav Dada on NDTV. Indian cricket will never be the same without them. It's not just because the kind of players they were, but also the kind of bond and affection they shared. Today's Indian team is completely filled with politics. There are definitely two groups existing within the team. Well we all know how Viru and Gauti have been treated by our present captain.

Sachin and Saurav have known each other since childhood ( when they were 14 year old kids) . Just loved hearing that Water in the room story & crocodile meat story. Dada has so much affection towards Sachin. Sachin,Saurav,Rahul will remain THE BEST TRIO of Indian cricket.

Loved the speech by Sachin. I am sure every Indian had tears listening to that speech.

BQ: It's too early to judge Arjun. He is just a kid. let's just leave him alone and enjoy his childhood. He definitely has passion for the game.He is already carrying so much pressure on his shoulders for being Sachin's son. But i don't think he will fail like Rohan Gavaskar as someone mentioned. I feel really sorry for the kid that people are already expecting him to play like Sachin. Unlike anyone other young cricketer , there will always be an added pressure on him.

When I started watching cricket, I saw my three heroes Sachin, Ganguly and Dravid and ever since I've grown up watching them. That was indeed a golden era. I still remember how they used to behave like children in the nets. When bowling machine was introduced (it was new to them), Sachin pumped the balls all over Ganguly and Bhajji and laughed like a child accompanied by Dravid. Dravid hitting the football in Sachin's face and lying down on the ground, laughing until Ganguly came to him saying its serious. Ganguly pulling the earplug off Sachin's ears because he was listening to music instead enjoying Bhajji's jokes. I'll always remember those moments. And yes, thanks to Star Cricket, now Star Sports.

BQ) I don't see any future for him. Just a loaf of meat.

Ya , it too saw entire speech made by Sachin live on TV yesterday . It was every emotional .

UK Born famous anchor Piers Morgan tweeted : 'Sachin's farewell speech is the most eloquent, heartfelt, humble goodbye any sportsman's ever delivered '

.. It was good gesture for sachin to mention His friend Dada , they still holds the record of most partnership runs than any other in the history .

BQ : I predict he will not be sucessful , i guess he will be like Rohan Gavaskar , son of Sunny sir .

The Kolkatan, who felt cricket without Tendulkar is akin to an opener without helmet, said the legend’s final knock was his best in the last three years.
