Question:
Be honest please... Do SL players need IPL more or does IPL need SL players more?

So let me get this straight. I'd stand by the opinion of IPL needing SL players more than SL players needing IPL. In fact that's why 3 SL captains have been chosen to lead 3 teams. Literally without SL players IPL would be like an Indian hotel without Dal soup...

SL is the current number one T20 team and how can you not have the players from the world's number one team in your domestic league. SL players are still invited and allowed to play despite of TN controversies bcz they are that damn good! They are just too good to be ignored.

Agree?

One may feel like saying this as cocky but I don't think so. Because we have seen the exact same behavior from the other party so this is thoroughly justified. And I am loving it:)

Its just pure give and take transaction.

IPL needs Sri Lankan players-

-To bring crowds and spectators from Sri Lanka.

-To bring diversity in the tournament.

-To add more batting, bowling & captaincy skills in the bouquet.

Sri Lankan players need IPL-

-To generate money (most important)

-To take exposure and to learn a lot to play pressure games.

-To earn repo as its great platform.

The need from both sides are nearly equal in weight but if you think deeply Sri Lankan players needs are heavier. I'm not saying this just because I'm an Indian but logically that is correct mate.

Assume you are a Sri Lankan player:-

You know mate that Sri Lankan players aren't getting paid by SLCB appropriately, The cricketers having no talent are earning heavily and how would you feel if you are not able to make some easy $$$. Had Sri Lankan cricketers were rich and well resourced, then they could afford to avoid IPL but on given current conditions- No.

Assume you're IPL chief:-

Yes, it would a worry for IPL chief if Sri Lankan player fails to make in but there are huge numbers of alternatives available. Evey team consists lots of players and captaincy can be transferred to someone else. Truly speaking, so far, Sri lankan captain have failed to play as per their talent mate be it Sanga or Mahela. Except Malinga, nobody has capitalized the talent in the six versions of the IPL. Sri Lanka doesnt have huge population so I dont think it will be huge loss spectator-wise if Sri lankan players don't play. But Still IPL would suffer a lot if there are no Sri Lankan players.

IPL = Indian players + Aussie players + West Indies players + Sri Lankan players + Commentators and experts from all world + Spectators from world + Club Owners' money + Sponsors and Advertisers + Cheerleaders (:

So obviously IPL - Sri Lankan players > Sri Lankan players

I think we don't need to imagine what would happen if there are no Sri Lankan players. You can take example of Pakistan players. There is no Pakistani players in the IPL who are known for their great T20 skills be it Afridi, Umar Gul, Ajmal, Hafeez etc. Today Pakistani players are unable to play IPL (for whatever reasons), you can see easily that who are on more loss- IPL or Pak players?

But overall its just pure give and take transaction. Neither IPL nor SL players are doing favor on each other, primarily both have monetary objectives but if you thing deeply a whole tournament is larger than any brigade of foreign players be it West Indies players or Aussie players or Sri Lankan players. We love & Respect Sri Lankan players and Sri Lankans also love IPL. Conflicts are temporary.

I've tried to be logical. Correct me, if I'm wrong, mate

I know why you asked this question and it was completely justified and fair enough.

Excellent squad for definite. But SL bought to prefer the proper 11 for the matches and hopefully they'll. I completely accept as true with your workforce. SL must use Jeewan Mendis alternatively of Sachithra from time to time IMO. Your team is a satisfactory mixture of kids and veterans. It can not get any better than that! 2) i do not consider the franchise will agree. It is no longer gonna occur until SL players take a stand out selection via themselves. Even Tendulkar was a failure in this IPL and couple of users talk about losing Mahela and Sanga(who has been in huge kind in ODIs lately) from SL workforce for the Champ'ns Trophy? It seems that the joke of the day for me lol!

There is no doubt that the Srilankans, the West Indians and the Pakistanis are naturally great players in the T-20 format, but I believe that IPL can live without them, whereas they need IPL to showcase their talent and make a lot of money for themselves as well. Nevertheless, why should anyone object to the talented players wanting to make money in the IPL or wherever else possible?

SL cricketers play in the the spirit of the game a bit too much to be regarded exciting cricketers . There are no real characters and never have been in SL cricket except Sanga , who can get the heat on at times . So i would say Sanga was the only SL cricketer that IPL needed for its marketing . The rest of the Lankan cricketers needed the money as their home cricket board is notorious for keeping their players waiting for paychecks , no offense !

hope it helped mate~

Edit:

"n what's the purpose of having 10+ unmarketable players being bought for large paychecks if they are absolute nobodies?"

Because they are good limited overs cricketers . Surely good cricketers are needed in T20s also but exciting cricketers are a priority for a tournament which mainly focuses on TRPs . Sachin is also a pretty silent cricketer but he is an exception because he has an X factor of his own brand . But then again i never called your cricketers "absolute nobodies" . They are good cricketers but none of them is a "showman" except probably Sanga .

You especially asked to be honest, so please take above comments sportingly.

IPL needs SL players. That’s obvious but Pune needs Matthews as a player, not as a captain. Good that they made Chandimal the T20 captain.

No need, its more of a want.

You need food and water.

You want to play cricket.

50/50 situation, IPL teams want an experienced captain and SL players want $$$.

IPL needs SL players obviously. IPL also needs a lot of other things, like money, cheerleaders, celebrities, controversy and what not. It is not a sport, it is entertainment, like the WWE.
