1) Huge money.
2) Absence of strict governing rules.
3) Lack of transparency in IPL.
4) Any other (please specify).

Note: This is a hypothetical question. There has never been such kind of incident in the IPL ever before but it may happen in the future. So what may urge the players to do so?

Whether it’s Indian Premier League, any other tournament or sport, in my opinion following factors turns a Player into Fixer:-

• Greed for money.

• Weak background moral values.

• Requirement for money for Inappropriate and abnormal personal needs.

• Clever Bookies.

• Pressure of senior players.

• Lack of communication between players.

• Lack of Corruption preventing machinery.

• Young age.

• Unfamiliarity with the probable consequences of match fixing.

• Usage of women by Bookies.

• Attractive incentives offered by Bookies.

• Board failing to pay players appropriately.

• When there is insecurity in players regarding career.

To demoralize fixing:-

• Board should keep communicating with young players.

• There should be harsh punishments for fixing.

• Board should pay enough to players.

• Board should keep strict control over Players’ contracts.

• Local police should be enough efficient to catch Bookmakers.

money, money and money.

you know what Indians and all the others playing in IPL involved in "spot fixing" are poor starving people who come from isolated towns and villages and suddenly see lots of money and get involved in spot fixing, honestly speaking all the cricketer all around the world involved in spot fixing are illiterate and hungry for black money.

Spot-fixing attracts a player because he believes that by just one deliberate act as per the wishes of the 'fixer', he can not alter the result of the entire match and thus he need not feel guilty for having earned some money on the side....... in other words, spot-fixing is not seen as any material cheating on the sport or fans; it is seen only as a minor aberration far less damaging or harmful than what an ill-luck delivery or stroke can do even otherwise.

It's all in the mind, dear!

PS.... and now I have earned my Rs 100!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1) Huge money. Money is what attracts players to do anything at all with the sport. I could guarentee you that if you told any player from any of the main international teams that they were not going to get paid, they would not play. The Sri Lankan's who have been not getting paid have played still as they have been told they will get paid. Not sure if the Sri Lankan cricket board has lived up to this yet or whether the players are still getting robbed by the board.

MONEY is the root of many problems...

many players arrested in spot fixing are from poor families.....

they have to do nothing.and by less work they get huge money.

but there is n shortcut for succes.approximately 90 percent of spot fixung matters comes in light only in a week.

We cannot be sure that such kind of incidents have never happened in the IPL before..We got the knowledge of only 5 players involved in spot fixing but it doesn't end there there maybe many more such incidents that could've happened that is why Central govt must order CBI to take over the case instead of BCCI investigating it bcoz the BCCI President is also a owner of an IPL team.

Uncapped players are more to prone to be attracted by huge offers when it comes to money bcoz they earn far less someone like Rayudu is far more worth Tiwary who was bought for 1.5 million and did very little contribution that is ought to make a younger player think twice. You ball a no ball in a match and you get 10,20 lakh that is a very tempting offer. That is why there should be window next year even for uncapped players..

Some players have said that even team owners have gave them more money than they are bought for fixing matches..who knows BCCI may punish this 5 cricketers as a effect to IPL spot fixing saga and try to cover the background activities of some big owners/names of IPL teams..That is the reason why I dont believe in BCCI investigation this issue..because some big names might be protected by the BCCI.Maybe SRK saga and the other molestation issues occuring could be take the focus away from IPL spotfixing.

I don't hate IPL,I like it but I would like to see it being played fair, guilty players deserve the punishment and so are those who lure them into doing this.
