No.1 Guethan Gambhier {Tough, stoic opener in the mold of Justin Langer, Bill Lawry etc...Compact technique against any movement}

No.2 Graham Smith {Hard to go past the tough nut South African for aggressive counterattacking with more reliability that Sehwag and a greatly improved tactical game as captain}

No.3 Ricky Ponting {I find it damn hard to like the guy...fellow Aussie or not..but he's undoubtably the best batsman in the world and craves the tough gutsy innings more than any player since Steve Waugh.}

No.4 Jaques Kallis {Would come in at five but for Kumar needing more time to recover as keeper. Best all rounder for a very long time. 9600 runs and 250 wkts...nuff said! Can play attacking or stoic defense as required.

No.5 Kumar Sangakarra Proly my fav player...One of the most elegant and correct players in the modern game and a more than passable wicketkeeper. His stats and big match play put him streets ahead of the technically suspect Dhoni.

No.6 Micheal Hussey {Thought about Kevin Pieterson here..but went for a defensive grafter rather than a hit or miss man like him. Husseys game is a yawn fest at best...but he brings home the goods so consistently that he cant possibly be ignored. Bats brilliantly with any tail...which is just as well because the tail for this team is loaded with bunnies.

No.7 Jacob Oram {Bit of a left field pick and in the team as the X factor player. Might do precious little with the bat or win you the match in an hour if the bowlers are foolish enough to pitch it up and let him clear that big front hoof for a quilt over the pickets. His bouncy bowling is always servicable and troubles more than a few top flight players. Andrew Symonds might have got this spot if he was more commited lately...but then again...with the frequency Oram gets injured hes proly just as big a risk???

No.8 Mitchel Johnson {Tries his heart out, surprising pace and wierd left hand angles + bounce. Pretty handy bat as well..which is good considering the bunnies to come lol.

No.9 Dayle Steyn {Little bit hot and cold...but this year has all been pretty darn hot :-) Hard to ignore the little bloke with the deadly late swing and 70 + wickets for the year} Hopeless batsman though...lucky not to get injured by the short stuff in the 2nd test against Australia. Still managed 76 runs in a drop catch fest by the Aussies though.

No.10 Ishant Sharma {Love this guys accuracy consitent pace and bounce. Like Glen Mcgrath with long hair.} Hopeless batsman though.

No.11 Murali Muralitheran {Record speaks for itself}

No.12 Ajantha Mendis {This guys a freak show! Check the clips on youtube. Awesome variety and apparently all but unreadable. Bowls fast enough to get bounce anywhere in the world as well} Will play in the team for variety and if/when Oram breaks down.
