Question:
Why don’t they award more than six runs for a “six”?

Hitting a “six” in cricket is one of the most spectacular and exciting parts of the game. It is a lot harder to score a “six” than a “four”, and there are a lot fewer in the game.

Why don’t they award 10 runs for a “six” instead? If they did that it would:

Reward the greater skill required,
Encourage more attacking batting and
Make close one-day games, even more exciting.

I TOO THOUGHT LIKE YOU..

IF AN EDGE OR MIS-HIT EASILY GOES TO BOUNDARY..

BUT TO HIT A SIX, IT NEEDS MORE SKILL..

WHO KNOWS..THEY CAN AWARD MORE THAN SIX IN FUTURE..

LET US HOPE.

Excuse me.. it woudn't remain a 'six' if they gave away 10 runs for it.. lol

It's a prt of the game's culture, it's history, it's origins, it is like a fundamental part of what cricket is, you can't shake the foundation and expect the building to still stand, do you?

Anyway sometimes even mishits go for a six so wouldn't it be drastically unfair to the fielding team to give away 10 runs when the batsman could have easily been out and jus' got lucky?

Plus, think of the bowlers mate, it's already a batsman's game truly, think of the bowler bowling his heart out, running in and bowling 5 fantastic bowls and erring slightly on the last and to give away TEN RUNS for it is unimaginably cruel!

Im with you. If the ball goes out of the ground the batsman shud be given 10 runs and the award of runs shud descend acordingly. This will also make Cricket interesting.

it's probabily because there are 6 deliveries in one over.

now, 6 deliveries an over came for TV ads. 7-8 deliveries/over was too long and less than 4-5/over was less.

in old days there was no '4'or'6'. it;s modern cricket invention.

it's good that we have '4'and'6' it increases the game enjoyment.
