Do you agree with Mickey Arthur that the Australian ODI side lack character and/or ambition?

He also said: "I want to see a bit of mongrel come Tuesday, I really do," said the former South Africa coach. "I think we've been a bit submissive this whole series. We've allowed ourselves to be bullied, and we're better than that."

What can be done to help lift Australia?

Certainly yes, I agree with him. I strongly feel Punter has did black magic on Clarke's team. The guy was very jealous with Clarke's decision of playing in the IPL.

Ans - England should try to lose last ODI to make them relax a bit . Otherwise, some trolls will continue to show their frustration on here. lol

It was a big gamble bringing an inexperienced side like that over here in their off season. No main line bowlers like Hilfenhaus or Siddle (unless some of them were injured).

Quite a few of them are on their first tour against a team who have great bowlers who can get the swing and seam, in a damp overcast summer which is just great for Anderson and the boys. If anything they should have thought this through a bit more clearly before arranging the tour. That and the fact that England haven't allowed them to settle. The batting has looked solid without needing to be spectacular as well as Finn pushing his claim for a call up when we play the Saffa's, Swann keeping it tight in the middle part of the Australian innings and so forth.

It'll be a bit harder next year in a proper ashes summer but as for this time I think that the boys at CA thought this one out badly and took the ODI number one spot for granted so they should take the lions share of the blame I would have thought, along with Arthur who is an experienced coach who should perhaps examine this again.

Edit:

Late correction, Hilfie was here, I apologise for my earlier error. It was still a relatively inexperienced bowling attack though.

He should have known that sidelining 2 of the greatest batsmen at the same time, that too against a stronger team, away, would have some repercussions. Ponting & M.Hussey were the backbones of this Aussie batting lineup for such a long time. Its going to take a long time to find 2 superstars, which is a slow process.

The Aussies are always ambitious & capable but lack of able personnel is taking its toll, maybe for the time being. Its their rebuilding process & Arthur has joined them at the wrong time, when things are unstable & winning isn't that regular.

Maybe similar to Kirsten's & D.Fletcher's coaching reigns with team India. Both have had similar teams but success graphs are the exact opposite. With couple of very important players missing or out of form, Fletcher has had to endure big torture, whereas Kirsten just moved on in the nick of time, to save his reputation.

Now Arthur might have to endure bit of embarrassment , where he won't know, why the most successful Aussie team he joined as the coach, goes missing in the face of hostility from a better team, i.e. England. By the time Ashes happens, they would either go flat out, in ultra attacking mode or would crumble, like the English teams used to, with great set of Aussie players, which are more evident in English side, as of now..

He had hammered it and nailed both the selectors and players. The way they had shaped against POMS is a classic example. They had created an aura that POMS cannot be defeated. I saw a couple of recent matches between the two and Aussies were pathetic and left much to be desired. That was why I had stated here that regrouping of Arm Chair Selectors by the Pool Side has taken place. Immediately sack some of the players who have taken the place of a former player to be passengers.

It seems the Australian selectors under estimated the English side. They should of come with a full strength side. They have given England the much needed boost before the important series with SA.

I disagree with the fact, England did no longer bully Aussies. There behaviour isn't something like the behaviour Aussies had. England gamers have been civil, and function no longer enable something pass to their head and have not replace into conceited. In contest smart assume you could say Aussies have been virtually bullied, they only did no longer have adequate time to pause and supply something returned. yet i might use the observe ruled than bullied. Australia have been rebuilding, have been doing good, they have been greater suitable in ODIs. they have basically slumped altogether. did no longer latest any undertaking in any respect. regardless of the incontrovertible fact that if I be easy i might desire such effect in tests and Ashes greater suitable than the ODIs. you're top its odd the coach announcing whats lacking or why they no longer clicking, or what desires to be carried out. in lots of circumstances for no longer understanding that coaches are fired. Its as much as him to determine that out, to me it form of feels they have batting woes. i actually desire England win the subsequent ODI, then they are going to be Rank1 in all formats, properly till SA come to undertaking for try scores besides. England is a good try team a minimum of, i does no longer underestimate them at domicile floor. if that they have been enjoying in SA it would've been distinctive. i in my opinion think of England have good probability of keeping the no1 try rank, and could win the series against SA.
