When Fletcher was made coach he was told to listen to senior players. Have you ever seen an instance where coach takes orders from players? If they act & behave like princesses what can coach do? You can only blame the coach if he had full control, had worked with them, players had done exactly what they were told. If they don't listen to the coach to begin with, in what way can they put the blame on coach.

BCCI needs to tell the players to get in line, and give coach full command. If then India face problems can you blame the coach. Most of the blame goes to BCCI and players, and it will be same with all coaches. You can't coach when your hands are tied.

Stories have also drifted through that Fletcher in many ways is just a figurehead coach. In home conditions, Tendulkar, Gambhir, Sehwag and Dhoni (apart from one innings) have failed and Englands main destroyers have been their spinners. That has always been India's strength. Being at home, they can't blame being given poor practice wickets, bodgy pitches prepared for seamers and definitely no blame to the umpires where decisions have favoured the home team. Not being able to blame any of these, who's next. That's right. It's all the coach's fault and all the players survive again.

The main problem with the Indian team is their unwillingness to be told what to do by a foreigner. They also are lazy & don't train as much as they should.Let us not start blaming the coach, look at your lazy players & corrupt, greedy board.

Fletcher = Scapegoat

Like rats jumping off a burning boat these guys blame their own short comings on the coach. Absolutely 100% hypocritical at its highest level. Did these players band together in a tool box meeting and say lets blame Duncan?

I like how these players spoke to TOI in anonymity and then TOI go and expose them by saying "said one member of the team who is an integral part of India's bowling unit." Just say "said Ojha"

The players have not been good enough to do the job, that they are highly paid for. You hardly need a coach at this level of sport.

Everyone should know how to play the game by now.

Dhoni is a clueless captain, sack him instead. Tendulkar has hardly scored runs in 2 years , sack him

Always Indians blame the foreign coach, when they should look at themselves.

No wonder there is no Indian coach to step forward.

I notice these so called players stated this under anonymity. How Indian of them. gutless fellows!

Fletcher has been a very laid back coach and it has suited the players (no hard task-master) but ruined their game. I am surprised that he has survived here thus far with nothing at all to contribute.

Look, we don't know what happens among the players. If they are saying so there must be something in it. Fletcher had a 2 year renewable contract. The BCCI will wait till his contract expires and then get a new coach. They should have some former Indian player, preferably captain, as the coach, someone like Ganguly or Kapil Dev. It is all a new beginning and if the series against Australia is not satisfactory I see some serious changes in the team if not now.

They should also stop being complacent and have a spin bowling coach. (May be Kumble, he can be of great help)

Regards.

I just answered Lal K's post about Kirsten & I wondered, had Kirsten stayed in charge of team India, the way team is presently & losing badly, would it make any difference to their fortunes, my ans is NO & it would've tarnished Kirsten's record as well.

Though Fletcher hasn't been lucky for team India or team India has been unlucky for him instead, so maybe they should go their separate ways, amicably.

Coach must be writing his report to the Board and if few players have their reservations about him, then they ought to speak up, its also their job to let the board know, how they feel about his inputs.

Like Andy Flower is given the credit for team England doing well and Cook as Captain gets all the accolades for a big series win, then how come Dhoni & Fletcher can get away from the criticism, for doing so bad at home..

It is but crystal clear that during tenure of Fletcher, Indian performance has gone bad to worse and right now it is at its worst.
